 ദണ്ഡി സത്യാഗ്രഹം (1930): ഒരു ചരിത്രപരമായ വഴിത്തിരിവ്

             ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമര ചരിത്രത്തിൽ വളരെ  നിർണായക സ്ഥാനമാണ് ദണ്ഡി സത്യാഗ്രഹത്തിന്. 1930 മാർച്ച് 12-ന് മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ആരംഭിച്ച ഈ പ്രക്ഷോഭം ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സർക്കാരിൻറെ ഉപ്പു നിയമങ്ങൾ എതിർക്കുക എന്നതായിരുന്നു പ്രധാന ലക്ഷ്യം. സാധാരണ ജനങ്ങളുടെ ജീവിതത്തെ ബാധിക്കുന്ന ഒരു നിയമത്തിനെതിരെ. അഹിംസാധിഷ്ഠിതമായ ഒരു വിപ്ലവ മാതൃകയായിരുന്നു . 

                    ഉപ്പു നിർമ്മിക്കാനും വിൽക്കാനും എല്ലാവർക്കും അവകാശം ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും, ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഭരണകൂടം അതു മുഴുവൻ നിയന്ത്രിച്ചിരിക്കുകയും ഉയർന്ന നികുതിയിൽ  ഇന്ത്യൻ ചൂഷണം ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. ഇതിനെതിരെ സമരം ചെയ്യേണ്ടത് അനിവാര്യം എന്നായിരുന്നു ഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ നിലപാട് . ഇത് മാത്രമല്ല ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർക്ക് എതിരായ നയങ്ങളെ ലോകത്തിനു മുൻപിൽ തെളിയിക്കാനുള്ള മാർഗവും ഇതായിരുന്നു. 

                   78 സത്യാഗ്രഹികളോടൊപ്പം ഗാന്ധിജി സബർമതി ആശ്രമത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ദണ്ഡിയിലേക്ക് 390 കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരം നടന്ന് എത്തി. ദണ്ഡി കടൽത്തീരത്ത് അദ്ദേഹം കടൽവെള്ളത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഉപ്പു നിർമ്മിച്ചതോടെ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് നിയമത്തെ തുറന്നു വെല്ലുവിളിയായി മാറി. ഈ ചെറിയ പ്രവർത്തി തന്നെ രാജ്യം മുഴുവൻ എഴുന്നേൽപ്പിക്കാനായി . സ്ത്രീകളും പുരുഷന്മാരും നഗരങ്ങളിലും ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും എല്ലാം ഉപ്പുസത്യാഗ്രഹത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു. ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സർക്കാർ നിരവധി നേതാക്കളെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തെങ്കിലും , സമരത്തിന് വ്യാപനമോ ശക്തിയോ കുറയാതെ കൂടുതൽ ജനപിന്തുണ ലഭിച്ചു . 

                    ദണ്ഡി സത്യാഗ്രഹം ഇന്ത്യൻ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമരത്തെ അന്താരാഷ്ട്രതലത്തിൽ ശ്രദ്ധേയമാക്കി 'അഹിംസയും' നിയമലംഘന പ്രസ്ഥാനവും ആണ് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനുള്ള  ആയുധം എന്ന് ലോകത്തിന് കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്ത ഒരു സംഭവമായിരുന്നു ഇത്. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ സാധാരണ മനുഷ്യന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്റെയും സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിന്റെയും പോരാട്ടത്തിന് ഈ പ്രക്ഷോഭം പുതുവെളിച്ചം നൽകി.

ജനിമൃതികളുടെ ലോകത്ത്,

ഇനിയും ജനനമുണ്ടാകും, ജനിച്ചവരൊരിക്കൽ മരിക്കും...

പുഴകൾ വരളും, എന്നാൽ അടുത്ത മഴയിൽ അവൾ വീണ്ടും ഒഴുകി തുടങ്ങും, വരണ്ടുണങ്ങി കിടക്കുമ്പോളും അവൾ കാത്ത് സൂക്ഷിച്ച ജീവന്റെ സമ്പത്ത് ആ പുഴയുടെ മാറിൽ നീന്തി തുടിക്കും..

വസന്തവും ഹേമന്തവും മാറി മാറി വരും.....

ഋതുക്കൾ എന്നും അങ്ങനെയാണ് എന്തോ

ശത്രുത ഉള്ളത് പോലെ.

ഒരാൾ വരുമ്പോൾ

മറ്റൊരാൾ ഒളിക്കും...

പ്രണയം പൂക്കാതൊരു ഋതുവും കടന്നു പോകുകയുമില്ല..!

എല്ലാം അവസാനിച്ചെന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കരുത്..

ഇതെല്ലാം ഇവിടെ തന്നെയുണ്ട്...

ഈ പ്രകൃതിയിൽ..

കണ്ണടച്ചു ഇരുട്ടാക്കാതെ നി നിന്റെ മിഴികൾ തുറക്കു......!!!!!

Life in Uniform: 

An Unforgettable Week at Pangode Military Station

The experience of a camp at the pristine Pangode Military Station in Trivandrum, Kerala, offered me a journey of discipline, resilience, and a profound respect for the men and women who serve our nation.

A World Apart Upon entering Pangode Military Station, there is an immediate sense of order and serenity. While an active military establishment, it had a unique, tranquil atmosphere, sometimes featuring poignant quotes from martyred soldiers that line the walls.
A robust welcome set the tone, emphasizing that such a camp is an immersion into core values like duty, honour, and 'Service Before Self'.
Dawn Patrols & Physical Fitness

Physical Training (PT): This involved rigorous drills, runs, and conditioning exercises designed to build endurance and mental toughness.

Drill and Ceremony: Learning the precision and synchronization of military drill was a test of focus and teamwork for us.

Team-Building Exercises: Activities can emphasize collaboration and leadership, reinforcing the idea that no one succeeds alone.

A Glimpse into a Soldier's Life:
A highlight of a camp experience was the hands-on exposure to military life, offering valuable insights into the daily routine and operational aspects of the armed forces.

Educational Visits: We had the opportunities to visit nearby facilities or learn about different industries.

Motivational Sessions: Interactions with veteran soldiers and serving personnel  provided us a powerful dose of motivation, sharing stories of sacrifice and dedication.

Cultural Evenings: We had opportunities to showcase their talents during vibrant cultural programs.

The Takeaway: More Than Just a Camp
A camp at a military station like Pangode was a transformative experience, instilling life skills like discipline, leadership, and personal growth. It left us with a newfound respect for the uniform and the sacrifices made to protect a nation's integrity.
It’s an experience that can truly embody the mantra: "Commandos are not Born, Commandos are Made".

Industrial revolution : A Land Mark in the History

The Industrial Revolution was a transformative period in world history, beginning in the late 18th century, marked by dramatic technological advancements and inventions that changed the way people lived and worked. Key inventions such as the steam engine, spinning jenny, and power loom revolutionized industries, introducing new efficiencies in production and transport.


coal and iron

Coal and iron were essential materials that were plentifully available in England.Iron is made from ore as a  poor liquid metal by a process called smelting. Charcoal was used for smelting  process. They had many problems like charcoal was very fragile.charcoal had impurities.Charcoal was in short  supply because forest had been destroyed for Timber.Charcoal could not  generate high temperature. This problem was solved by invention of blast furnace in 1709 by first Abraham Darby . Second Derby developed wrought iron from pig iron. Henry Cort another iron master made two important inventions :- pudding furnace to remove impurities from Molten ion and rolling mil to make iron bars. In 1770 john wilkinson made first iron chairs,vats for breweries and distilleries  and iron pipes of all size .In 1779 3rd darbey  built first iron bridge in the world.
Major inventions in text  industry are flying shuttle, spinning Jenny, water frame and powerloom.

steam engine

Steam engine was the only source of energy that that was reliable and in expensive. Steam power was first used in Mining industry .Flooding in Minds was a serious problem .Thomas Savery built a model steam engine called minors friend to pump water out of  of mine. The first commercially  successful invented by Thomas newcomen. The most prominent among scientist who attempted to improve newcommens engine was James Watt a Scottish engineer . He developed team engine in 1769. so James refered to as inventor of steam engine.

canals and railways

The most notable among early canals was built by James brindley, it was first English canal. Canals were usually built by landowners. From 1760 to 1790, 25 new cannal building projects were begin. The period from 1788 to 1796 was known as period of canal Mania, during this period 46 canals building ptojectes were begun. Over next 60 years more than 4000 miles of canals were built.

 An amazing change in transport was development of Railways .The first steam locomotive called rocket was constructed by George Stephenson. He thus inaugurated a railway era in transport. Railway transport was cheap and fast it was used to carry passengers and goods .The invention of Railways let to industrialisation to a second stage .Railway is combined two inventions Iron track and steam engine. Iron track replaced wooden track in 1760 .In 1801,Richard Trevithick called puffing devil .It was used to pull trucks around mines .In 1814 George Stephen constructed a locomotive called blutcher. It could pull a weight of 30 tons up a hill at for mph. The first railway line connected cities of Stockton and Darlington .It was constructed by Stephenson in 1825. The railway line connecting Liverpool and Manchester was also designed by Stephenson .

conclusion

These key inventions did not merely improve transportation and industry—they created new economic opportunities, fostered urban development, and connected continents through trade. Their legacy endures in the modern infrastructure and technological advancements that define industrial society today.

🕉️ “കല്ലിൽ ഉറങ്ങുന്ന കാലങ്ങൾ” — ഒരു എൻ‌സിസി കേഡറ്റിന്റെ കഥ

2024-ലെ ഒക്ടോബറിലെ ഒരു തണുത്ത പ്രഭാതം. എൻസിസി യൂണിഫോം ധരിച്ച് ജൽഗാവ് ഗ്രൗണ്ടിൽ നിൽക്കുമ്പോൾ, എന്റെ മനസിൽ ഒരു വലിയ അഭിമാനം നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. ഈ വർഷത്തെ EBSB ക്യാമ്പിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതിന്റെ സന്തോഷം വാക്കുകൾക്കപ്പുറമായിരുന്നു. ചരിത്രം പഠിക്കുന്ന ഒരാൾ എന്ന നിലയിൽ, ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പൈതൃകത്തെ  അടുത്ത് കാണാനുള്ള അവസരം എന്നെ അതിയായ ആവേശത്തിലാക്കി.

ക്യാമ്പിന്റെ ഒരു ദിവസം, ഞങ്ങൾ മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ അജന്തയും എലോറയും സന്ദർശിക്കാൻ പോകുകയായിരുന്നു. ബസ് കുന്നിൻ വഴികൾ കയറുമ്പോൾ, പുസ്തകങ്ങളിൽ വായിച്ച ശില്പങ്ങളും പെയിന്റിംഗുകളും മനസ്സിൽ വരച്ചു തുടങ്ങി. പക്ഷേ യാഥാർത്ഥ്യത്തിൽ കാത്തിരുന്നത് അതിലും ഉന്നതമായ ഒരു അനുഭവമായിരുന്നു.

അജന്ത ഗുഹയുടെ കവാടത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ച നിമിഷം ഞാൻ വിസ്മയിച്ചു നിന്നു.
“ഇതു… മനുഷ്യർ കൈകൊണ്ട്, ആയിരം വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പ്?”
എന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ ഒരുപാട് ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ ഉയർന്നു.

ഗുഹയുടെ മതിലുകളിൽ വിരിഞ്ഞുനിന്ന പഴമയുടെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ, ഒരു വലിയ പാറമലയെ മുഴുവനായി കൊത്തി ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ബുദ്ധവിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ — ചിലത് തകർന്നു പോയതും, ചിലത് മങ്ങിപ്പോയതുമായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും, അവയുടെ മഹത്വം ഇന്നും മങ്ങിയിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നു.

ഗൈഡ് പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി:
“ഈ ഗുഹ ഏകദേശം 1000 വർഷത്തിലേറെയായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു.”
“ഈ ശില്പങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം ഒരു പാറമലയെ മുഴുവനായി ശില്പം പോലെ കൊത്തിയതാണ്.”

ഞാൻ ഏകദേശം 500 മീറ്റർ നടന്ന് പല ഗുഹകളും സന്ദർശിച്ചു. ചില ഗുഹകൾ വലിപ്പത്തിൽ അതിഗംഭീരം. ഞാൻ കല്ലുകളും ശില്പങ്ങളും സ്പർശിച്ചപ്പോൾ, പഴയകാലത്തിന്റെയും കലാകാരന്മാരുടെയും സ്പന്ദനം ഇന്നും അവയിൽ ഉണ്ടെന്നു തോന്നി.

ചില ബുദ്ധമൂർത്തികൾ തകർന്നു പോയിരുന്നു. എങ്കിലും, അവയിൽ നിന്നും പോരാതെ ഒഴുകുന്നത് ശാന്തിയുടെ മഹിമയും പൈതൃകത്തിന്റെ പ്രതാപവും ആയിരുന്നു.

ആ ഗുഹകളുടെ ഉള്ളിൽ ഞാൻ ചരിത്രത്തിന്റെ അതിമനോഹരമായ നിശ്ശബ്ദതയെ കേട്ടതു പോലെ തോന്നി…
ചിത്രങ്ങൾ വരച്ച ഭിക്ഷുക്കളുടെ മൃദുവായ ചുവടുകൾ, ശില്പികളുടെ സ്പർശം, കല്ലിൽ ഉറങ്ങുന്ന ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് വർഷങ്ങളുടെ കഥകൾ…

ക്യാമ്പിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങുമ്പോൾ എന്റെ മനസിൽ ഒരു ഉറച്ച തിരിച്ചറിവ്:

“ചരിത്രം പുസ്തകങ്ങളിൽ മാത്രമല്ല.
അത് കല്ലുകളിൽ, ഗുഹകളിൽ, കാലത്തിന്റെ ഗന്ധത്തിൽ ജീവനോടെ.”

EBSB ക്യാമ്പ് എന്റെ ജീവിതത്തിലെ ഒരു അനുഭവo മാത്രമല്ല,
എന്റെ ചരിത്ര യാത്രയ്ക്ക് ഒരു പുതിയ തുടക്കം. ..........
